Tea Break Time

For this durational performance, Cosmophage created a tea ceremony at the end of the jetty in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Tea made from sugar kelp was served every half hour to guests who were invited into a space of reverence for the surrounding waterfront: a vast expanse of river that is largely inaccessible to the public. As the day deepened, the performance began to loop and revisit itself; breaking the guest’s experience of time passing through a rhythmic repetition of tea, words and waves.
